oh god, so effectively you've taken x-factor era harry's personality/experience - wide-eyed kid with his heart on his sleeve, eager to please to the point of biting off more than he can chew - with post-flicker niall + even more rugged, jaded, and closed-off. INTO IT. REALLY, REALLY INTO IT.
okay also, i love that pic of niall so much, i want that pic to be the cover of the vintage vinyl album harry owns & has wanked over (love niall as a guitarist, but did he also have some solo ventures?? i want harry to love niall's voice too, and to also have wanked over it.) both those fics you linked to are A Lot but i agree, i like that this encounter doesn't seem quite as sleazy/groupie-ish - more like this flicker (ha) of a Real Moment/Real Connection, but it's complicated by the fact that nial's famous, has had and lost plenty of Real Connections, and harry's looking at him through these rose-tinted glasses/hero worship.
my number one question is WHO WAS NIALL EXPECTING?!?! who broke his heart and left him so scared of figurative ghosts?? does harry look like his ex? or was niall so lost in his thoughts that just harry's presence through him for a loop??
okay also (sorry i'm just going to keep on rambling here, talking - typing? - out loud) what i think works so well about the 2 fics you linked (other than the incredible dub-con tightwalk both fics walk, which is so WELL DONE) is that they both end with the fuckee going back to their regular life, having been Changed for the Experience, but not really making any lasting impact on the fuckers. as much as i love famous/not famous, it really does become sorta self-insert at some level with the famous person making a relationship work with the non famous person, y'know? not that i don't eat that shit up, but there's some level of suspending disbelief that usually goes hand in hand with those fics. ANYWAY, my point is that with the set up you have here, realistically i don't see how harry and niall have a lasting, healthy relationship which means that it's gotta crash and burn at some point. i mean, you could probably come up with a way to give them a happily ever after, but i'm sort of envisioning this intense fling for both of them, where niall comes out the other end a bit more healed (maybe??) and harry comes out a bit more jaded. idk how it ends - with a horrible blow-out fight, or if it fizzles out, or there are Almost Famous vibes and it's like a tour thing with a very set expiration date they're both aware of. i actually sort of like that kind of backdrop for their relationship - it happens while niall's on tour, or recording his new album, or something like that where they're kind of in this bubble, and things are great while in the bubble, but it's gonna pop as soon as the looming end date comes.
anyway, please tell me everything about the nouis dynamic in this fic, and also please post that sex scene!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
