ok that narry au was supposed to be about 300 words and is now 1.5k of just... gentle fic about how harry used to be a tree and now he isn't. i'll finish it up tomorrow but here's a little bit now so I can at least pretend that I make good on my promises:

Harry lives with Niall now. Well -- Niall supposes that's always been the case, technically. It's just that Harry used to be a graceful English oak flowering in his back garden, and now he's a person, a tall, beautiful sort of person with a look of perpetual surprise on his face, who sleeps in Niall's bed and eats the food Niall cooks for him and clings close to Niall's side when he takes him down to the shops.

I am... incredibly excited to read this. Concepts like this are on the same wavelength as alien and mermaid Harry, where's he's always gently bewildered by things but is still always really kind and almost serene about it. "A tall, beautiful sort of person with a look of perpetual surprise on his face" is a perfect way to describe it. I already love used-to-be-a-tree Harry???

it is indeed for you, anon! first i started writing you a silly r-rated giving tree one, which included this line: Niall’s really glad Harry isn’t a tree all the time anymore. It’s made their sex life significantly less weird, for starters, now that he doesn’t have to get his dick out in the garden all the time. but then I was listening to Niall's album on repeat and it was giving me all the feelings about niall listening patiently, gently, because he might not understand but harry can talk to him, and it became something very soft and weirdo narry being gentle with each other instead. ANYWAY i meant to post it last night but I think I want to write a little more of it tonight before I do.

Soft Narry featuring treeHarry? Yes Yes Yes! And for some reason I was reminded of that poem "Trees" by Joyce Kilmer- minus all the god references bc athiest- because it's so sensual the way she writes it, somehow? Or maybe that's just my warped brain- but like, "A tree whose hungry mouth is prest /Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast" and "A tree that may in Summer wear /A nest of robins in her hair; Upon whose bosom snow has lain; Who intimately lives with rain" And now I'm thinking of how things can be sensual w/o being overtly sexual. And picturing Niall sitting out in the garden in the rain, leaning on treeHarry, who keeps apologizing bc he isn't keeping Niall completely dry, but also secretly enjoys the way the water slides down Niall's nose and makes patterns on his shirt
